Pomocí smyčkovače a vlastního hlasu Mirka tvoří hudbu živě na pódiu. Představuje tak nejen vlastní skladby z nově vydaného debutu Malbum (Hevhetia 2022), ale také ojediněle přetváří hudební motivy různých kultur, ve kterých zrovna nachází inspiraci.
Naproti ní stojí Pavel, který na hudbu v momentě reaguje a vytváří pohyblivé tématické obrazy. Pozoruhodná live show zaujme posluchače svým inovativním zpracováním. Stejně jako je možné vykreslit hudbu pestrými barvami zvuku, i obraz lze rozehrát rozličnými melodiemi, prolínat, barvit a ohýbat.

The audiovisual live show is an unconventional duo of two Czech artists – musician Mirka Novak and visual artist Pavel Liška. The concert very closely connects two sensory perceptions, hearing and sight, and thus brings a new dimension to listening to music. By using a loop station and her own voice, Mirka creates music live on stage. She presents her own compositions from the newly released debut Malbum (Hevhetia 2022), and also she uniquely transforms the musical motives of various cultures in which she currently finds an inspiration. Opposite of her stands Pavel, who reacts to the music in the moment and creates moving thematic images. The remarkable live show captivates listeners with its innovative rendition. Just as it is possible to portray music with colors of sound, the image can be also played out by melodies, blended, colored and bent.
Project started in 2013 in the USA. The repertoire refers to significant jazz composers (such as Wayne Shorter, Chick Corea, Miles Davis, Thelonious Monk, A. C. Jobim, H. Hancock, Gretchen Parlato, etc.) that Mirka Novak reshapes into her own renditions.
The sound fuses jazz, soul and latin influences spiced with groove. Members of the band change according to where Mirka Novak performs.
On this project has already collaborated: Federico Gonzalez Pena, Tarus Mateen, Edward Miles, David Jernigan, Dave Manley, Nick J. Lewis, Ivan Audes, Daniel Bulatkin, etc.
R’n’B’ soul jazz band formed in 2015 after one very successful show at Andel Music Club in Pilsen (CZE). The repertoire consists of Mirka Novak’s originals that were recorded in the USA and other songs influenced by the R’n’B music scene (Erykah Badu, Jill Scott, Robert Glasper, D’Angelo, Lalah Hathaway, Lauryn Hill, J Dilla, etc.).
The band has performed two successful shows with Grammy nominee, the American drummer David “Fingers” Haynes in 2017 and 2019.
Members: Mirka Novak – lead vocals, Martin Adamovsky – guitar, Jan Techl – keys, Daniel Eberle – bass, Jaroslav Minar – drums, Tereza Antonova and Lucie Hajickova – backing vocals.
This band has been performing in a jazz underground scene in Prague since 2015: Filip Spaleny (bass), Jakub Dolezal (keys), Michael Nosek (drums). In the past, the band has worked with different frontmen. It reached its final form in May 2017 when singer Mirka Novak got invited right after she returned from the USA. Prague Connection is a unique fusion of the best local musicians playing a repertoire full of fine soul, jazz and funky (Bill Withers, Roy Hargrove, The Temptations, Michael Jackson or Marvin Gaye).
