Mirka Novak is a vocalist, performer, song-writer and vocal coach from the Czech Republic. She graduated from the University of West Bohemia with a Master’s degree in 2013.
She has been visiting the USA regularly to enhance her music skills. She made her way to the “jazz mecca” of New Orleans, Austin, Boston, NYC and Washington DC, where she played and recorded with renowned musicians.
In Europe, she soon became recognized among others due to her experiences. This recognition led her to a great opportunity to be a motivational speaker on TEDx Talks in 2018. Right after she became a member of the organization Jazz without borders, she founded a singing school in the Czech Republic.
In the past, she worked with Federico Gonzalez Pena (who collaborated with Victor Wooten, Marcus Miller, Chris Botti), Tarus Mateen (Betty Carter, Outcast, Lauryn Hill),
Vincent Wiley (R. Kelly), Dave Manley (Jill Scott), David Haynes (Chaka Khan), Ivan Audes, Filip Spaleny, Daniel Bulatkin, Nick J. Lewis, DeAndrey Howard, and many others.
Gaining experience resulted in various opportunities including an invitation to perform at the Slovakian embassy in Washington DC, radio interviews in multiple countries, shows at the festival SXSW in Austin, a residency at the world-renowned jazz club Reduta in Prague, Brass House and Elephant Room in Austin, the prestigious Twins Jazz in DC, jazz festivals in Germany and Poland, etc.
In 2022 Mirka is releasing her debut album featuring various artists. The concept of this unique vocal piece was created on a loop station as an exploration of her authentic self.
Whilst traveling across the world in search of music and personal interpretation, Mirka Novak brings to the stage a unique soulful voice and contemporary sound spiced with groove. As a musician, her confidence can be sensed, both in the rhythms and melodies she often improvises on the stage.
Amazing Czech soul diva singing with the creativity and lightness of a real star.
